Vinales (Viñales) is a small town in the Pinar del Rio Province of Cuba. From Wikipedia "The municipality is dominated by low mountain ranges of Cordillera de Guaniguanico such as Sierra de los Órganos. Typical outcrops known as mogotes complete the karstic character of the landscape."
I took this particular image one night after i rented out a bicycle and went for a cycle out into the countryside.. One of the best things i did on that trip...

Krakow, Poland on way to Auschwitz..
When in Krakow, Poland recently i took every opportunity available to shoot. This particular shot was taken from the car (back seat) on our way from Krakow to Auschwitz. I've wanted to shoot eastern european countryside and sights ever since my trip to that region back in 2007.

Video Shot in Cork City, Ireland.
This is my first proper attempt at stop motion photography. "Cork City Stop Motion", with my Canon EOS 5D MKll + Remote Timer mounted on the car dash (very awkward to do so) i drove around the city and north side surburbs and shot this.. Enjoy.
Music is "Fragments" by Autamata from the album "My Sanctuary".

Taken on the way to the Salt Mine using an iPhone 4..
As a camera i actually quite like using the iPhone 4, i was debating which high-end compact to get, but since using this guy, i'm just gonna hold off on that... The worst thing about using an iPhone or any compact for that matter in a scenario like the one this shot was taken in, is that everyone who cares to look can see exactly what your shooting.. The above scene was tricky enough, but it wasn't as obvious as you would expect as to what exactly i was taking a picture of with my iPhone 4 pointed towards a window wall of a side entrance bus door!!

Canary Wharf, London.
Another example of my laziness when it comes to my photography and my editing. This shot was taken back in 2008, it's not one my strongest shots, but i do kinda like it. I was debating whether to keep it color or make it black and white, i preferred the color.

One of the most interesting things for me about these medina's in Morocco is the little pockets of light everywhere, it adds alot of drama to these places and they already have enough...

This shot was taken is Asilah (or Assilah), Morocco within the the old and incredibly beautiful old medina. I will say one thing to you tho, if you do ever visit the medina in Asilah and if you then expect all medina's in Morocco to be like this, you are very wrong! Personally i like dirt, the dirtier and grittier, the more it appeals to me as a photographer.

Inch Strand, Co. Kerry, Ireland.
Taken on a very windy and surprisingly very cold (or not so depending on what you expect from Irish weather!) August Bank Holiday Monday. I saw another side to Inch Strand yesterday, a side that i'm totally unfamiliar with, an Inch Strand with more than 15 people on it, alot more than 15 people on it!! I also gave the 5D MKll video a blast!! I'll post a video to that here later... I've got plenty of idea's as to what i want to shoot, but now its just a case of finding the time to do so!! Hopefully not a problem!!
heres the video, it anit anything special at all, but it was windy and quite difficult to keep the camera steady and it is just a test after all...

These shots are just a very small sample from a personal project i'm currently working on and were taken at the Cork Docklands, Cork City, Ireland. This whole area is to be re-developed with apartments, shops etc... I've been photographing this area for the past 3/4 years now, as it's a huge part of Cork culture and i want to shoot it as much as possible before it completely disappears.

What was an incredibly beautiful and sunny day in Cienfuegos, turned into the complete opposite in 2 seconds!! Getting a horse and cart back from the very tip of the Malecon into the city centre and the heavens just opened up!!

Museo de la Revolución (The Museum of the Revolution), Havana, Cuba.
Young cuban boy obviously very bored at the "Museo de la Revolución" in Havana, Cuba.

Cork City, Ireland.
Currently focusing my attention on alot of night time and low light photography, even more so when it's raining or has been raining. I'm attracted to the neon glow at night reflected off the wet street.

I remember just outside this rehabilitation center i met a cuban photographer with a DSLR, nice guy who loved photography and seemed to be very passionate about it. He got the DSLR from a romanian pro photographer who had been there earlier that year and i asked him how he managed to get the pictures off the camera as not many cubans would have personal computers and getting photographs developed is very expensive in Cuba. Apparently the romanian photographer promised to send him an Apple iBook. I don't know if this guy ever got his iBook, i hope he did, it's just, Cuban customs are notorious for pocketing what they like and an Apple iBook (no matter how old) would be something to like. It must really have killed this guy to have all these pictures on his camera, that he just couldn't get.

Lahinch, Co. Clare, Ireland.
This picture was taken last May 2009 (i don't know what it is with me and picture taken in the month of May at the moment!!), but this was taken in one of Irelands most popular and one of the best surfing spots "Lahinch". It's a pretty cool little place.. You should check it out..
Blarney, Co. Cork, Ireland.
Picture was taken circa May 2007. Yeah, 3 years ago now, seems like i took this picture only last week. 1 month later i was on a 5 week trip all over Europe with an american friend of mine.

Having been in Paris for the first time by night back in December 2009, one of the must do was to visit the Trocadero and take picture of the Eiffel Tower from it... What i somewhat naively was sure on such a cold night that there wouldn't be that many tourists there.. I was wrong, which made getting a clean shot difficult! Instead i focused my attention on the tourists viewing the Eiffel Tower and the above shot is one of the results from that idea!

Champs-Élysées, Paris, France.
This was one of those shots, when at the time i knew i wanted, but once i brought it onto my machine i had a different opinion on it! The color version just didn't really hit me like i had hoped it would and i just converted it to B&W as more of an experiment than anything else! I quite like it in B&W...
I am currently work on some projects via Final Cut Pro that i will be uploading to Flickr and Youtube HD based on my most recent photography!
Also, Apple have released Aperture 3 and i think finally they have a Lightroom killer on their hands and thats coming from a Lightroom user via Mac!

I'm currently thinking about making a return to Cuba, I really do feel like I'm not finished with place and a part of me wants to return!! I think tho, next time I return, I will concentrate my efforts solely on Havana and really try to explore every aspect of it!

Pigalle, Paris, France.
Again, carrying on from my last post.. One of the places i thoroughly enjoyed shooting by night was Pigalle in Paris. And for all the reasons i love night street photography, the neons lights, the reflections... Great place for it!
Champs-Élysées, Paris, France.
It's been a short while since i last updated this blog, motivation to do so can be quite low at times..
Lately, i've been doing alot of night time street photography, it's my preferred type, especially in wet conditions due to the color reflections off the ground. Iit' also to do with when i actually get time to go out and photograph.. Because of this, i buy "fast" lens, lens with an aperture of either f1.4 or f2.8, the larger the number (ie, f1.2, f1.4, f2.8 large F numbers, f22 small F number) the larger the hole in the lens to leave more light in, hence faster shutter speed and very shallow depth of field, which can be a downside to some, whereas i love it..

Millennium Bridge, London, England.
Just another shot taken in London circa October 2008. This is another prime example of my laziness when it comes to editing my shots after a trip, well, maybe not editing, but more like sharing... A whole year and a half before this one saw the light..

Camden Town, London, England.
I love visiting London, i go quite a bit.... The shot above was taken in Camden Town, i hadn't been there in nearly 3 years and thought it was about time to revisit the place. The only problem i have with London is that i've never been totally comfortable taking pictures there, i don't know why and i think it is reflected in my photography from London.. I need to get to source of that and fix it...

Inch Strand, Co. Kerry, Ireland.
Inch Strand is a place that has been photographed a million times before and generally with these places it's hard to to be original with composition and the photograph in general.. With this shot, at the time, there was sand whirling all around our feet, i wanted to try and capture the madness of it, by positioning the camera low to ground and snapping an ants perspective of the strand.. Generally with any other camera i wouldn't try this at all, because sand damaged gear is not good, thankfully my camera and lens are both fully sealed, so i get away with alot...
